100 cards in one weekend

I always knew making my own wedding invitations would involve large amounts of pretty paper, reams of ribbon and several glass of wine. And last weekend I was proven right when I set out to make 100 cards in one weekend.

Operation mass-make

Around this time last Friday I was gearing up for my self-imposed challenge to make 100 wedding invites before Sunday night struck. I can happily report that after a craftathon of many many hours (and many cups of tea and coffee), my mission was a success! I thought I'd share a few photos with you to show you how I got on...

stamped trees on homemade invites

Stamping success! I've conquered my fear of stamping and used a Hero Arts acrylic stamp and metallic-olive ink pad to stamp this forest of tress. It's great for batch making, and I added the wedding details in gold pen by hand.

punching paper lace

Lacy punching: I punched a strip of paper to give each card a doily effect using a Martha Stewart lacy punch that I got from last week's Stitch & Craft Show. Warning: this stage can cause crafter's injury! i almost bruised my hand by the end...

adding paper flowers

I predict paper flowers are due a big come back in the coming year. I added a couple here to the main greeting using a dab of Ranger Glossy Accents glue - if you don't own any, seriously, get some quick. It's magical stuff and dries entirely transparent.

Card making in batches - helpers come in handy!

My little helper! I was lucky enough to have a spare pair of hands while I crafted - my mum came to visit to help out. Here she is doing an admirable job of attaching backing panels to each card using double-sided tape. We got through four reels of it!
