OK so Christmas may still be 3 months away, but there are some craft projects that never get done when we leave them until early December to start making! So we've rounded up a few of our big craft patterns for you to curl up and start making in advance, nice & early this month... we'll be bringing you plenty of quicker makes & ideas over the coming weeks but here are a few real 'get your teeth stuck into' projects to wow your friends & family with this Christmas if you get crafting this month...

Make your own Christmas tree advent calendar: This cross stitch project by Kerry Morgan has been on our 'must make' list for a couple of years now - 2012 will be the year we finally get making it! *nips to the shops to buy the threads & fabric to start stitching*

Noridic haze jumper - fair isle snowflake patterns & snuggly alpaca yarn? yes please! (this jumper knitting pattern was designed by Amanda Jones, first seen in Simply Knitting)

Winter wonderland retro cushions - this beautiful design by Emily Peacock (as seen in Cross Stitcher) is a lovely contemporary Christmas cross stitch pattern to make for any room of the house...

Get nostalgic with a classic Christmas scene... Here's one for The Making Spot's Jenny (she has a not-so-secret soft spot for traditional Victorian scenes to stitch!) - this Victorian street scene will be a real treat for traditionalists & stitchers who want to take on a stitching challenge this autumn!

Knit a Christmas countdown: Belinda Boaden's knitted advent stockings are one of our most popular projects - this free knitting pattern might take you a while though, so reach for your needles & get started now!
