Christmas is just over two months away, so if you're planning any big handmade gifts, now's the time to start - if you haven't already! Here are some of our top tips plus our favourite festive gifts to start making now...
Cross stitch projects can take longer than you expect, so be sure to start cushions and samplers as soon as possible. We love this Scandinavian Christmas project (above), which includes a showstopping cushion plus smaller motifs for Christmas stockings, cards and gift tags.
If you're knitting a classic Christmas jumper for a child this year, get your needles at the ready! If you can, get the child's measurements to compare with the size guide in the knitting pattern, and choose a slightly larger size if they're growing fast! We love the Cosy Kids project, fun to knit in bright colours.
It's also a good time to get busy with Advent calendar projects. This free knitted advent calendar pattern has been really popular on The Making Spot this week, and don't miss the gorgeous cross stitched Candy Village and amazing mini muffin pan calendar too!
You might want to consider a festive heirloom project too; this Christmas tea cosy and Merry Christmas apron are sure to become family favourites! Start now and see if you can finish in time to show them off this Christmas day.
We've got some great smaller knits to make too. These 6 festive gifts are quick and easy to whip up and are sure to be crowd pleasers. Or if you fancy a bit of nifty colourwork, try these gorgeous Caspian gadget cases (below) to protect laptops and phones. We love the elegant pattern and fancy fasteners!
