How to: Make card embellishments

There are loads of card making occasions coming up! We've all got cards to make for birthdays, weddings and those adorable new babies, plus crafters in the USA are getting ready for Mother's Day! Here are a few of our favourite ideas for making your own card embellishments - great for using up all those bits 'n' bobs from your craft stash.

We love this video of our pal Angela Poole making gorgeous concertina flowers in the Papercraft inspirations office. All you need are some strips of paper, glue dots and a funky button. Angela uses a scoring board to get crisp edges, but you could just fold with your fingers.

For even more bling, you can make your own glitter stickers! Use your favourite rubber stamps to create the design, or go wild with your own doodles.

If you're making a manly card, check out Martha Stewart's brilliant folded paper shirts. Check out the matching mini ties! What a fun way to show-off patterned papers.

For a touch of texture, don't miss Kirsty Neale's tissue paper flowers tutorial. Kirsty's patterned tissue papers look stunning.

Fancy trying something a bit more hi-tech? Try stamping on shrink plastic to make your own colourful charms. It's like magic!

Ooh, with cards this good, you'll find it hard to give them away! Whatever you're making, have fun - and be sure to show us your makes on Flickr and Facebook!
