Ooooh we're very excited as just found out about a massive knit-along project that's taking part this spring! Knit the Nation is seeing knitters everywhere getting together to create a miniature knitted village. The finished village is going to be on display at this year's Stitch & Craft Show - with prizes for the best knits! We're busy getting our thinking caps on for what to make... lamp-posts? post boxes? dogs? trees? oooh or how about a knitted pond? If you want to join in but aren't sure where to start, read on to find out where to get some free knitting patterns to get started!
To kick start the mini-making, Simply Knitting are offering a set of three free knitting patterns for knitting up some basic village essentials!
So click on over to download the free patterns and get started!
• Knit a miniature house
• Knit a miniature car
• Knit a miniature woman
This mini car might be my personal favourite of the three.. the whole project takes me back to childhood trips to miniature villages in Devon with my family as a child - love it! To join in the fun, we've got our own plans for knitting up a spot of mini bunting! To match the life-size knitted bunting that we're knitting for the show. Will post pics here on the blog as soon as we have them.
To join in with the miniature knitted village, hop on over to the Simply Knitting blog for details - you'll need to get your needles clicking in a hurry as all mini knits have to be sent in for 24th February - but that still leaves weeks! Don't forget to show us a picture of your mini making before you send it off - you can share photos in our Flickr group or Facebook page.
