We heart Mollie

We can't believe it's been a whole year since Mollie Makes magazine hit the shops for the very first time! This week they're celebrating their first birthday - we know as we spied the team celebrating with birthday cupcakes earlier today :-)

Sneak a peak inside Mollie's birthday issue with this digital sampler - or if, like us, you do love to treasure the magazine itself - it's on sale in shops now, complete with a TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS book of DIY wedding ideas.

And if you're feeling nostalgic, you can download issue 1 free in the Mollie Makes app for iphones and ipads... cool eh?

Tutorial: Grow easy ribbon roses

Our crafty chums in North America, Australia and New Zealand are enjoying Mother's Day today, hooray for mums! To celebrate, we wanted to share a link to one of our favourite floral-themed tutorials - easy ribbon roses. These quick blooms look great on all kinds of cards, and they're so easy to make.

New york wedding card

New York card making idea

I have a confession to make - recently my card making kit has fallen into a slight state of neglect. Usually most weekends see me whipping up some form of card for a family birthday or friend's new baby - but in recent months my fingers have been busy stitching and I've let my beloved (and extensive!) papercraft stash gather dust slightly. So I decided to get back in the saddle to celebrate my friends' Sarah & Dave's wedding last weekend. Please forgive these shaky iphone pics but I really wanted to share as am pleased with the results! Read more to find out how to make a skyline silhouette card...

Mostly making: Crochet flowers

I've spotted a few cute crocheted brooches and headbands in high street shops lately, so I thought I'd have a go at making my own little flowers to dress up my rainy-day coat.

Craft classes = hours of fun!

Are you a social crafter?  I personally love to curl up at home on my sofa when I stitch or knit, there’s nothing I like better than getting together with friends for a craft night in. My last crafternoon was a stamping session spent with my friends Sarah & Lara (both craft pros, they work on Mollie Makes), we made a batch of place settings for Sarah's wedding, complete with New York skyline stamp.

And it seems I’m not alone in enjoying the chance to make & natter. Craft courses are on the rise across the UK – as more and more of us fancy trying new techniques with others – but aren’t sure where to start! Of course, there's always our very own free craft tutorials over on The Making Spot, but I’ve also been on a bit of a quest to find good local classes lately - after enjoying a cushion-making hen do at The Makery last year. So I was chuffed to see you can now search for craftilicious classes over at Hotcourses
