A superhero equipped with knitting needles

Some people are just naturals when it comes to crafts. They’re the ones who never put their foot down too hard on the sewing machine pedal; who make knitting look as easy as brushing their teeth; and the ones you just know could copy the craft projects on Blue Peter as kids and end up with a Tracey Island which looked better than the real thing.

Then there are those of us who aren’t. We like making bits and pieces for fun, and get excited over new patterns, but things don’t always go to plan. Sure, we have our successes, but there are a fair few projects that end in us tossing aside our material in frustration and reaching for the nearest (and biggest) bar of chocolate. Unfortunately I am most definitely in this group...

For a couple of years now I've peeked in the window of a little shop called The Makery & always wanted to try one of their sewing classes. So when my hen do came around this weekend, I found the perfect excuse.
